This Message Needs To Be Declared

Then he said to me, “The sins of the people of Israel and Judah are very, very great. The entire land is full of murder; the city is filled with injustice. They are saying, ‘The Lord doesn’t see it! The Lord has abandoned the land!’ So I will not spare them or have any pity on them. I will fully repay them for all they have done.” [Ezekiel 9.9-10]

I cannot help but wonder that if God would bring such harsh punishment upon His chosen nation Israel, what would He do to others? What would God to any nation where their sin is great and their entire land is filled with murder and injustice - a land where most have begun to ignore God at best and thumb their noses at Him at worst.

A man recently told me that a particular lifestyle that is becoming prevalent in the USA is not going to be punished by God. What the man went on to explain is that that particular lifestyle IS the punishment by God. I must admit, I think he is right. We are no longer in the phase of "if we don't stop, bad things will happen." We are now in the phase that we didn't stop, and now we have been given over to our sins (the apostle Paul addressed this in Romans 1.28).

And, lest we claim "grace" as if God would not destroy people as He did in the Old Testament in Ezekiel's time, we should consider the earlier part of Romans 1 (very New Testament) where Paul clearly declared:

But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. [Romans 1.18]

This message needs to be declared today.

Father, I am overwhelmed by the trouble we are in. Show me please Your way through it. Show me my voice in it. But first, forgive me for my participation in it!
