“But I know you well—where you stay and when you come and go. I know the way you have raged against me. And because of your raging against me and your arrogance, which I have heard for myself, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth. I will make you return by the same road on which you came.” [Isaiah 37.28-29]
These are the words of God spoken to Sennacherib king of Assyria.
However, God's people today can embrace these same words as applying to their enemies - those who oppose God and His people.
There exist many today who would have God, His Word, and His people silenced in the earth. They taunt God's people with ridicule and scorn for their "ignorance" in believing the Bible when science allegedly disputes its claims. These enemies of God proudly declare that knowledge and education replace the "need for God" and therefore antiquate the Bible rendering it nothing more than ignorant unenlightened folklore.
To all those arrogant unbelievers I believe these words apply:
“But I [Yahweh God Almighty Creator of Heaven and Earth] know you well—where you stay and when you come and go. I know the way you have raged against me. And because of your raging against me and your arrogance, which I have heard for myself, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth. I will make you return by the same road on which you came.”
And my prayer is this:
Father, I believe You and I believe the Bible. Let my life and love demonstrate Jesus to unbelievers and persuade them to believe before Your justice and love protects me from them and they no longer have that opportunity.
