All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). [Isaiah 7.14]
As God dealt with Ahaz, King of Judah, through the words of the prophet Isaiah, we find the words that changed the course of the world. This prophecy became a focal point for Israel. These words defined an event unlike any other - a virgin conceiving a child Who would be called "God with us."
Father, help me to grasp the full meaning of the Messiah's Advent - help me to comprehend the prophecies of Him and the settings in which it all took place.
