Fear God

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. [Proverbs 9.10]

It all starts by fearing Yahweh. Getting to know everything one can about God yields good judgment.

Speaking for myself, I can stand to pay attention to this proverb! I dare say, most everyone who wants to serve God shares my sentiment.

Fearing God is the prerequisite to growing in Him. Any good thing we are to ever receive from God begins with our fear and respect of Him. Understanding that God is indeed God Almighty and that He rules and reigns sovereign over every thing and circumstance is the starting place of a relationship with Him. No one can come to God in any kind of pride or arrogance. Any attitude toward God except complete submission renders one 'outside' the realm of relationship with God.

Furthermore, as one enters into a relationship of total submission to God, and then begins to build a knowledge of His characteristics, then, and only then, may one begin to exercise and demonstrate good judgment - the ability to make right decisions.

Father, help me to remain constantly mindful of Your complete sovereignty as I learn more and more of Your amazing character as it is portrayed in the Bible and its message of redemption in Jesus the Messiah!
