Health Is A Touchy Subject

The Lord gave these instructions to Moses: “Command the people of Israel to remove from the camp anyone who has a skin disease or a discharge, or who has become ceremonially unclean by touching a dead person. This command applies to men and women alike. Remove them so they will not defile the camp in which I live among them.” So the Israelites did as the Lord had commanded Moses and removed such people from the camp. [Numbers 5.1-4]

For anyone to claim that God would desire sickness to be on a person is ludicrous.

God's main desire for all people is to be in fellowship with them. If a person is sick (otherwise noted as "unclean"), we have solid Biblical evidence that God disallows such a person in His presence.

Jesus taught us to pray, "May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven..." If we are to understand the scripture above, we can safely conclude that sickness cannot be in God's presence. So, we can safely conclude that we, not only may, but must pray for healing for all because sickness cannot and does not have any place in heaven!

I realize there have been great abuses of "healing" in the Church. But no matter what kind of foolishness associated with healing that the Church has engaged in, it does not change the fact that sickness has no place in heaven and therefore must be faithfully prayed against by us on earth.

For all the things the Church prays for and does not realize positive results, it is sickness that many of our circles focus on saying is the will of God. I wonder if our sickness doctrines have been largely arrived at because of pride in denying our unbelief? Imagine had Jesus' disciples responded back to Jesus when they were unable to cast out evil spirits that their faith was NOT the problem?

Father, I know our health is a touchy subject and one that can consume our lives and prayer. Help us to see what You really have to say about our health, both directly and indirectly, throughout the entirety of the Bible and also to take into account all we know about Your character and heaven.
