Blessings and Curses

“However, if you do not listen to me or obey all these commands, and if you break my covenant by rejecting my decrees, treating my regulations with contempt, and refusing to obey my commands, I will punish you. I will bring sudden terrors upon you—wasting diseases and burning fevers that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. You will plant your crops in vain because your enemies will eat them. I will turn against you, and you will be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you, and you will run even when no one is chasing you! [Leviticus 26.14-17]

The passage above (and the preceding verses in the chapter) seem to run parallel to Deuteronomy 28's Blessings and Curses.

I could not help today but think about our health and healthcare both being demonstrative of this very curse. The disobedience of the people brings about disease, weakness, and early death. All a person's wealth is given to "enemies" (sickness and disease) in effort to resist and overcome them but largely to no avail. And, insurance will keep a person fleeing even when there is no actual disease in pursuit.

That's just how I see it today. We need to receive the deliverance of our Savior!

Father, I cannot help but believe we see very clearly the curses for disobedience in full function all around us. Is it not right that believers in Jesus Your Son - the Messiah - our Deliverer - our Redeemer - demonstrate blessings and not curses?
