The Kingdom Seen Through Joseph

“Therefore, Pharaoh should find an intelligent and wise man and put him in charge of the entire land of Egypt. [Genesis 41.33]

Is it just me, or does it sound like Joseph is fishing for a job in the suggestion he made to Pharaoh above?

As time frames go, Joseph went from prisoner to prince in what appears to be a matter of minutes!

Here's a thought... The account of Pharaoh's dream was the third time Joseph interpreted a dream ...or was it? I think we tend to forget that Joseph had a couple dreams of his own back when he was a young man. If Joseph indeed possessed the gift of interpreting dreams, one could easily conclude that Joseph had already glimpsed into his ultimate outcome through his own dreams!

As the Kingdom of God goes, Joseph's situation clearly shows us the plight of humanity before and after Christ!

Joseph's role under Potiphar can easily be seen depicting God's people before Christ. There remained a 'level' between Joseph and Pharaoh - Potiphar. God;s people would go through a time when there existed a 'level' between them and God - Priests.

After a period of suffering, Joseph then was elevated to a position in direct communication with Pharaoh. This is exactly what Jesus did for believers - He eliminated the middle man and gave us direct access to God! And so here we see a perfect picture of the Kingdom of God!

So... I believe it is highly likely that Joseph was indeed fishing for the job of second in command to Pharaoh - he had already seen it in his dreams. It was his destiny.

Father, I am amazed at seeing Christ and Your Kingdom in this story of Joseph! Thank You!
