But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. [Genesis 45.5]
Considering all that had taken place up until this time. it seems Joseph did indeed understand the meaning of his early dreams and keep that meaning as a guide to his life.
I suppose Joseph was harsh to his brothers at their first arrival in Egypt for grain to see if they had changed or were still the careless and thoughtless siblings they were years before. Satisfied of their change of heart, Joseph revealed himself to them and what a reunion it was!
It is very noteworthy that Joseph said, "God ...sent me here..." It seems he chose not to say "God used this bad situation" but rather saw it more directly as a commission from God to go to Egypt. Now, I am not going to make a doctrine of it or anything, but I believe we would all fare better if we embraced the circumstances we encounter as we FULFILL GOD"S PLAN for our lives. But it all starts with knowing God has a specific plan for our lives!
Father, I really want to think more today about my thoughts written here. Thank You for helping me to see some of what I think I am seeing here! Help me to understand and therefore live with confidence!
