And they sang a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth.” [Revelation 5.9-10]
Nowhere in the Bible is Jesus' Kingdom work described any more clearly than in this passage! Jesus' Kingdom work was to bring others (us) into Kingdom work!
Just as Jesus was made High Priest for all mankind, so He makes it possible for US to become priests for God!
And what does a priest do? The number one role of a priest is to represent people before God! We are called to no less advocacy for people before God than Jesus Christ Himself!
It is no small task and prayer is at the core of it! "Reigning" on earth is exercising the authority of heaven ("Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven...") to fulfill God's will in and on the lives of people for whom Christ died and rose again!
Father, I am clearly reminded today that my role in the Kingdom begins with prayer and very much involves intercession for others!
