All Glory Belongs To God

Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died. [Acts 12.23]

Herod, like every other human being in the history of the world, was not designed to be worshiped. Receiving the glory of worship was Herod's demise. All glory belongs to God.

God, on the other hand, is capable of receiving worship.

I wonder, in all the self-consciousness of our day (self-help, self-preservation, and ultimately self-worship), if we have contrarily doomed ourselves to incurable diseases?

An effective way to kill a man is to worship him.

Father, let my life be that of a tool to You. Apart from the work of Your infilling Holy Spirit commissioned by Jesus, I am useless and capable of no good thing.
