Early the next morning Jesus went out to an isolated place. The crowds searched everywhere for him, and when they finally found him, they begged him not to leave them. But he replied, “I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other towns, too, because that is why I was sent.” [Luke 4.42-43]
Sometimes I think it is easier not to pray than to submit to what prayer causes to happen.
In the case of Jesus, His dedicated prayer seems to have put Him on the road! It put Him in the middle of a ministry that was almost out of control as far as its following.
Jesus went out early and He went out alone. Although 'alone' certainly may not have been completely alone (His disciples could have been at least near), He was certainly 'alone' as far as crowds were concerned. The fact that Jesus went to pray early just gives confirmation of His priority to pray.
Real and dedicated prayer opens up ministry. It is that simple.
Father, help me to pray with the priority Jesus demonstrated!
