And this is the basic law of the Temple: absolute holiness! The entire top of the mountain where the Temple is built is holy. Yes, this is the basic law of the Temple. [Ezekiel 43.12]
While this is the law of the Temple and Temple worship has given way to the age of Grace in Christ, there is still something to learn from it. If, in Jesus, our bodies have indeed become the Temple of the LORD, then it would make sense that absolute holiness is the rule of the day for our bodies!
It seems when faced with the laws and commandments of the Bible that we are quick to claim 'grace' in Christ as if God no longer requires holiness. However, just because the way to God has changed from Temple protocol to faith in Christ, does not mean God's presence requires any less holiness!
There is something deep to consider in this! What does holiness in Christ look like?
Father, help me to consider Your holiness and what it means to me.
