Rest For Your Soul

This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’ [Jeremiah 6.16]

In a day and age where turmoil abounds, there is something to be said for the "old, godly way..."

I wonder if we haven't made a grave mistake in all our modifications to righteousness. There are many things that the Bible declares God's opinions about that we have imposed our own opinions as if to supersede the Bible by our advanced culture or society. Consequently, we inadvertently declare the Bible and it's mandates old fashioned and outdated.

While there may be arguments for relevancy, there remains the promise of "rest for your souls" in exchange for traveling the old godly way.

Frankly, I think we can all use some rest for our souls.

Father, give me a fresh perspective on the old godly ways found in the Bible. Help me to travel the path of those old godly ways!
