Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. [Psalm 5.3]
It is indeed morning once again - it happens once a day!
The Psalmist David apparently had a routine of morning prayer. If we learn anything from this "man after God's own heart" perhaps this is where to start!
What better way to start the day than to lay our requests out before God and then spend the day watching for God's answers to our prayers? Herein may lie a couple clues as to a shortcoming on our part: do we pray each morning? And, even though perhaps we do pray, do we spend the day in expectancy?
Pray and wait expectantly. This is what David did and there is no reason for us to do any different.
Father, I realize how easily I am distracted each day after I pray. I know much of the time I go away from my morning prayer and think no more of what I prayed about or requested. Help me to change this pattern and begin instead to pray and then wait expectantly!
