Genuinely From The Heart?

Then David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly: “O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever! Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. [1 Chronicles 29.10-12]

Here above is an example of what David thought about God. We can safely conclude that David was sincere in this his estimation of the LORD too. Based on David's well-known relationship with God as recorded in the Bible, David was not simply parroting what he had heard others say - these words were genuine and from the heart.

As I consider David's words here, I must ask myself if similar praise exists in my heart or if I merely mimic the words of others whose blessings I desire. These are real questions that we must all ask ourselves! No one can answer them for us.

Father, help me today to evaluate my relationship with You for what it truly is. Let it be that the things I say and think about You are genuinely from my heart and not forced recitals of others' relationship with You!
