“Look, I will come as unexpectedly as a thief! Blessed are all who are watching for me, who keep their clothing ready so they will not have to walk around naked and ashamed.” [Revelation 16.15]
Without going into great description and detail, I want to point out today that this verse seems totally out of place where it is found.
The sixth angel had just poured out his bowl of God's wrath (that dried up the Euphrates River). The seventh angel had yet to pour out the final bowl of wrath - a great earthquake. There were three evil spirits that were apparently promoted by the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. These demonic spirits evidently worked miracles and deceived world leaders to gather for battle against the LORD. It was after this mustering of the rulers of the world but before they actually gathered together for the battle at Armageddon that the verse noted above was interjected into the Revelation.
The speaker of these words appears to have been the same speaker described in 16.1, "a mighty voice from the Temple..."
Why was this declaration made when it was made? What does it signify? What does it mean?
Father, I certainly came away from my reading today with more questions than answers. Help me to consider what I have read today and remain open to Your Spirit to reveal to me what it means!
