The law appointed high priests who were limited by human weakness. But after the law was given, God appointed his Son with an oath, and his Son has been made the perfect High Priest forever. [Hebrews 7.28]
As I read in the book of Hebrews today, I got a certain sense that I know very little about Jesus' priesthood. The reason for this is simple: I know very little about the Levitical priesthood either!
Here is where the Old Testament becomes quite useful! Here is where we find the true role and purpose of the Law of Moses! Here is where we need to know and understand the Law so that we might accurately know and understand the role and purpose of Jesus!
Father, please help me to better grasp the person of Jesus as You have given explicit detail of His life and ministry through the Law!
