Jesus turned around and looked at his disciples, then reprimanded Peter. “Get away from me, Satan!” he said. “You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.” [Mark 8.33]
...And then, there's that.
The Bible is not as clear cut as we would like it to be. About the time I think I have it figured out, along comes a statement like the verse above that reminds me that I am only human, and, as such, incapable of understanding everything God is doing.
No doubt, Peter was trying to do and say the right things. But in this instance, Peter was sorely rebuked by Jesus.
What hope does this event give me as a believer? Well, it gives me at least some assurance that I will do and say some things wrong at times because of what I am - human. However, the silver lining in that cloud is that I will not likely have the opportunity to become arrogant and proud because of knowing too much!
Father, I am so grateful that You have given us so much information in the Bible. I am also aware that we will fumble with this information until the day we leave this earth because some of it is just too much information for us to handle.
