Humility

For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. [Luke 14.11]

These words, spoken by Jesus, are some of my most comforting.  

These words so go against our society and culture today that says one has to take what one wants, or one has to make happen what one wants to happen.

There is nothing self-assertive or self-seeking about the way Jesus has taught us to be.

The way Jesus taught made no allowance for personal rights.

Man, what an oddball Jesus is today.  Humility is what set Him apart.

Father, even in Christian circles, we have adopted the idea that we deserve better.  In some cases, we have even made the Gospel about us...  Wow, help me to have Your perspective on my life.  Help me to humble myself.
