Jesus replied, “Marriage is for people here on earth. But in the age to come, those worthy of being raised from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage. And they will never die again. In this respect they will be like angels. They are children of God and children of the resurrection. [Luke 20.34-36]
How much thought do we really give to heaven? What will it be like? What will we be like?
Although Jesus was focused on making an altogether different point, He still opened a small window of understanding into heaven in so doing.
That being said, I wonder why marriage does not remain in heaven? If marriage is the earthly picture of union with God in heaven, and if family is so very important on earth, why then is it non-existent in heaven?
Along these same lines, just before this particular chronological time in the life of Jesus, He spoke favorably of people leaving family behind to follow Him...
Just how important is family to God?
Father, I want to have the right understanding and response to life as we know it compared to life in heaven.
