The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said, “Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do, and don’t live in dread of what frightens them. Make the Lord of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble. He will keep you safe. [Isaiah 8.11-14a]
Why would the LORD tell Isaiah not to think like everyone else? Why not declare, "Conspiracy!" when it is obviously so? When everything is falling apart, why not fear the obvious consequences?
More than ever before, God's people - followers of Christ - have the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the holiness of God in their lives. The proverbial 'rubber is meeting the road' and they have the choice of fearing what lies ahead or fearing God. The safety of the LORD will ultimately tell who is His and who is not!
Father, forgive me for thinking like everyone else! Forgive me for calling out conspiracies and living in dread of them. Forgive me for failing to make You holy in my life and failing to fear You.
