Even So

But the people refused to listen to Samuel’s warning [that a king would opress them]. “Even so, we still want a king,” they said. [1 Samuel 8.19]
Even so...
Here is where we are today... and have been since the days of old.  We know what God wants.  I believe more people are aware of what God wants than will admit it, but "even so" they refuse to obey.
Choices are made every minute of every day - many of which are in direct violation of God's will and His wishes - and still, "even so" knowing the choice is a bad one, it is followed through with anyway.
We want what we want and we aim to get it.  Even so.
Father, it appears to me that we are every bit as stubborn and outright rebellious as ancient Israel.  Forgive me for my participation in such strong-willed rejection of You.  Help me to be an ambassador of obedience going forward!
