Well, I guess Mr. Hotshot Job got what was coming to him. And God did not speak to him like he was sinless! No, in fact, God scolded Job repeatedly that he was not in any way equal to God and certainly was not sinless.
God's reasoning with Job is what interested me today. God presented Himself as Creator and challenged Job to match that. It occurred to me today that God's role as Creator really is the defining dinstinction of Who He Is (at least from His Own perspective).
God did not challenge Job with His love. God did not challenge Job with His justice. God did not challenge Job with His mercy or grace. God challenged Job with His Sovereignty as Creator.
As I realized this today, I gained a more thorough understanding why the world, in all its worldliness, must define the beginning of the earth in "without-God" sequence. Put another way, if God indeed prides Himself as Creator, what better way to spit in God's face than to declare the earth a result of natural events having nothing to do with God?
The ironly of it all is that science, which was ultimately created by God, now challenges God. So the Science vs. God challenge reveals its own flaw.
The most modern analogy of this would be a computer challenging the man who built it. The argument certainly could easily be made that the computer could out-compute the man. However, regardless of design, since man always develops machines to do or do better what man cannot, the real challenge is not one of ability, but originality (hint: "origin"). The computer could prove its computing prowess over and again, but it could never declare originality in anything it does - every single computation of that computer was written into its programming and that was at the hand of its designer and creator, man.
So it is with science. As it is explored and unraveled, the brilliance of its design is evident. But creation cannot claim originality as its own creator. Somehow a design and plan were followed - a claim largely left to God until recent history. Darwinism really put the "Science vs. God" challenge on the historical map.
What I look forward to is that, as man continues to search for the smallest breakdown of life - goes even beyond the study of amino acids & etc., he will find not simplicity, but even more complexity. This will only further confound and confuse man since "science" is trying to understand nature by isolating individual pieces and how they fit together.
So, bring on more pwerful microscopes! The findings will be infinite. I liken it to examing a puzzle only to find that each piece is composed of bazillions of tiny pieces, each of which are themselves composed of bazillions of tiny pieces... and the infiniteness of it all will be revealed!
It's kind of like trying to discover how many times the number one can be divided by half before arriving at zero (hint: while the values grow smaller, the number of digits is endless).
Father, I believe You are the One and Only Creator of this universe. You are awesome and I apologize for all the slander You have had to endure from Your creation. You are God and there is no other.
