It Seems Like a Contradiction, But Is It Prophecy?

Even now my witness is in heaven.  My advocate is there on high.  My friends scorn me, but I pour out my tears to God.  I need someone to mediate between God and me, as a person mediates between friends. [Job 16.19.21]
Job says two things here.  One, that his advocate is there on high and the other is that he needs a mediator between him and God.  I am not just a little confused because it seems Job's two statements contradict one another.
But wait!  Is Job's seeming contradiction prophetic?  By Jesus' own confession, He was with God when the earth was created, however, He had not yet descended to earth to redeem mankind and so, even though He was there with God, He had not yet gained the authority to speak on man's behalf.
Father, once again, I feel as if I am muddling through the book of Job failing to fully grasp what is going on and what is being said.  Help me to add to what I have learned in years past - let it be that I can build a platform of knowledge upon which You can establish useful wisdom in my life.
