The Lord gives his own reward for doing good and for being loyal, and I [David] refused to kill you [Saul] even when the Lord placed you in my power, for you are the Lord’s anointed one. [I Samuel 26.23]
Why did God place Saul in David's grasp if He did not intend for David to kill him?
Was it a test?
Or, did David blow it?
Did David's refusal to accept God's deliverance from Saul cost Jonathan his life?
Father, I would like to understand more about David's refusal to stop Saul. I certainly understand David's respect of Your anointing, but I want to be sure it was well-founded. Help me to understand!
