Saul soon learned that David was at Keilah. “Good!” he exclaimed. “We’ve got him now! God has handed him over to me, for he has trapped himself in a walled town!” [I Samuel 23.7]
Both David and Saul felt like they were doing the will of God. One was indeed faithful, but the other was a fanatic. If asked, either one would have declared that God was on his side.
This story sounds all too familiar. However the proof is in the results. David revealed over and again that he was indeed faithful to God and Saul, although he gave lip service to God, demonstrated no allegiance to God.
Father, I know that merely saying I am Yours means nothing. Faithfulness will determine who is Yours and who is not.
