I guess I do not fully understand the Nazirite vow. The text seems to indicate at first that it was a particular vow, but later sounds like the vow could vary in what it was.
I also saw through this description that hair is closely associated with commitment or dedication. It started with a shaved head - male or female could participate.
Along with the growing of hair is the abstinence from alcohol that symbolizes the act of dedication of a Nazirite vow.
Another important part of the Nazirite vow was staying away from a dead body. Any contact or close proximity with a dead body (evidently only human) was strictly forbidden in the duration of the Nazirite vow.
Interesting.
Father, I would like to know more about the Nazirite vow. Help me to see anywhere the Bible reveals more about this commitment.
