I have already warned those who had been sinning when I was there on my second visit. Now I again warn them and all others, just as I did before, that next time I will not spare them. [II Corinthians 13.2]
Or else what? What is it that Paul will not spare them from?
Is it just me, or do Paul's threats just not seem to carry the "punch" of Peter's (ref. Ananias/Sapphira)? As we have read through the early church history and now arrived at this time in Paul's life and ministry, have we witnessed the decline of tangible power in the church?
Just some thoughts...
Father, I realize that we today simply do not walk in the same literal power as the early church. With all my heart, I believe that power is available, but I believe we simply "aren't there." Help us - help me - to journey closer to You and one day realize that Your tangible power is working in and through me.
