Got Fish?

It is a strange story in John today. Here are some thoughts that stood out to me:

Jesus had already shown Himself to the disciples on at least two different occasions. There was ample evidence that He had indeed risen from the dead. Why were the disciples not "glued" to Him? Why in the world were they out fishing?

I can certainly relate to fishing all night and catching nothing (John 21.3)! But was that indicative of anything? Why weren't they catching fish? And why, at Jesus' word to toss the net over the right side of the boat, did they catch a mother-lode of big fish?

Then, the "do you love me" dialog seems to be for Peter and Peter alone. This is even more profound because we know it was John who was writing this account. John indicated that what Jesus was saying to Peter was not the same as He was saying to John. There were indeed "different paths to walk."

What does it all mean?

Father, I am not just a bit unsure what You are saying to me today through the NT reading in the OYB. But I will consider it in effort to learn more. Thank You for constantly working on my heart and therefore my life.
