We Would Never...

The people replied, “We would never abandon the Lord and serve other gods. [Joshua 24.16]


Yeah, yeah, yeah...

I wondered this morning just how Joshua actually addressed all the people. I mean... there were a LOT of them and yet they are recorded as having unanimously responded the words above (and others). Is it possible there were a few naysayers in the bunch? Is it possible there were select individuals who, under no circumstances, had any intention whatsoever of following God? And then, did those select few eventually persuade the entire nation? Or did the group as a whole really make the commitment above and then turn their backs on God?

I wonder.

Father, I want to follow You. I know by now that what I "say" usually means very little - so, please help me. I want to follow YOU - but I know that until I am out of this body that goal will always be challenged. I want to follow you - I am not there yet, but I am on the journey...
