When Does The Power Come Into Play?

Anyone do the math from the OT reading?

There were 12,000 soldiers that fought against Midian (all of whom returned from war). Half the plunder was given to the fighting men: roughly 28 sheep/goats , 3 cattle, 2 donkeys, and 1 virgin girl per fighting man.

Eleazar the priest got 675 sheep/goats, 72 cattle, 61 donkeys, and 32 virgin girls!

Just thought I would point that all out...

Regarding the NT reading: When does the power come into play?

Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness... [Luke 4.1] Jesus had just been baptized by John.

Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power... [Luke 1.14a] Jesus had just been tempted by the devil in the wilderness.

Maybe I am over-analyzing this, but it seems the power did not actually come into Jesus' life until after He was tempted. Wow, is there a Sunday-School lesson there or what?

Father, help me to view temptation as potential "promotion time" when it comes to Your power at work in me!
