The godly will rejoice in the Lord and find shelter in him. And those who do what is right will praise him. [Psalm 64.10]
Just yesterday I had the most unusual experience. I took my own advice from my post the day before yesterday to fast and pray for the need of a friend. This was the first time in my life that I recall ever having fasted purely on behalf of another. By days end, my prayer was answered in the affirmative - the brother's need was met.
Yesterday, a day full of a particular personal circumstance and need, found me a different person than what I expected - instead of focusing all my prayer on my own need and circumstance before me, I found myself praising and thanking God for my friend's victory!
I am ashamed to say, but I was surprised by what felt like spontaneous praise. This surprise was particularly peculiar to me because I had my own pressing circumstances before me!
What changed? I can only surmise that in my willingness to put the need of another above my own need, I did "what is right" (from the verse above) and released praise in me never before tapped into.
I am humbly recording this event to preserve its memory. This is in no way a proud declaration - especially since it has finally occurred so late in my life and 'walk with God.' Hopefully it will provide the platform for many more similar circumstances over the course of the rest of my life.
I feel like I tied my own shoe for the very first time!
Father, You are so faithful and good. I am grateful for How you are growing me. Thank You so much!
