I took my troubles to the Lord; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer. [Psalm 120.1]
I think nothing is more of a reality than that the things God has done for us are so easily forgotten.
The Psalms speak of God's interaction with man - and it's all good. The Psalms serve to remind us that God indeed interacts with man and that His interaction brings salvation and life (among many other blessings).
If I wrote my own Psalms, I wonder what they would sound like? Would they speak of faith and confidence in Yahweh? Would they indicate that my suffering was directly related to my disobedience and that my blessing was directly associated with my obedience? Would they reflect my dependence upon God in every circumstance? Would they reveal that God is my refuge that I run to for safety?
If I wrote my own Psalms, would they indicate that I took my troubles to Yahweh; that I cried out to Him, and that He answered my prayer?
Perhaps the Psalms serve as a reminder to us to have a relationship with God and to proactively record the details of that relationship.
Father, You have done so many wonderful things in and around my life for which I am grateful. You have, in fact, answered so many prayers. Help me not to forget.
