Just One Man

The people made a calf at Mount Sinai; they bowed before an image made of gold. They traded their glorious God for a statue of a grass-eating bull. They forgot God, their savior, who had done such great things in Egypt—such wonderful things in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Red Sea. So he declared he would destroy them. But Moses, his chosen one, stepped between the LORD and the people. He begged him to turn from his anger and not destroy them. [Psalm 106.19-23]

But Moses...

No matter what God purposes to do, it always has a little 'wildcard' attached to it. God, our Father, loves His people. And, no matter His plans, He is always willing to listen to the prayer of even just one who will address Him. Moses was that one. God changed the course of His actions based entirely upon the intercession of one man. Just one man.

Just one man - who prayed.

Father, the implications of this reminder of Moses found in the Psalms is, and always will be, profound. Help me never forget that my prayers - those unselfish prayers for others - are not unheard. Remind us all of Your desire for us to pray.
