Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment. [Proverbs 4.7]
It would appear, from this proverb's instruction that wisdom is, in fact, something one can acquire, and that good judgment is, in fact, something one can develop.
With this in mind, it would naturally appear that we would do well to get wisdom and develop good judgment! However, wisdom and good judgment will not come without effort. We must make the effort, take the time, exert the energy, to get wisdom and develop good judgment.
First, it seems that if we are to "get" wisdom, that it is something, or somewhat, of a commodity that may be gotten! In other words, wisdom exists in its raw form for the taking.
Good judgment, on the other hand, is not a commodity to be obtained, but rather something requiring time, effort, and skill perhaps like preparing a meal. While wisdom would be like the ingredients of the dish to be prepared, good judgment would be the skill to use those ingredients to convert them into a tasty dish.
Father, help me to consciously get wisdom and develop good understanding!
