Get It Right (Not Left)

Tell the godly that all will be well for them. They will enjoy the rich reward they have earned! But the wicked are doomed, for they will get exactly what they deserve. [Isaiah 3.10-11]

It just seems in our "Age of Grace" that we have totally abandoned any idea of just recompense. Nothing is anyone's fault anymore. Everyone is entitled to whatever they want. Tolerance has 'watered the garden' of the fruit 'anything goes.'

I just cannot believe that is what Jesus intended for His visit to earth, the cross, and the grave to accomplish.

Furthermore, I cannot believe or accept that God intended for His holiness to be cheapened to the point that He is viewed as 'the big teddy bear in the sky' who never gets angry. No, there is nothing in the Bible that would indicate such a mistaken idea!

In fact, God, though not easily angered, does become angry. Over and again, the Bible reveals this about God's character. Jesus fleshed this anger out when He threw the money changers out of the Temple, overturning their tables and making a scene. Jesus often rebuked His disciples for faithlessness and even addressed and rebuked Peter as Satan himself!

I think a review of Grace is in order for the Church and believers in general. Yes, Grace is precious and makes way for our salvation, but also, Faith is as much a part of salvation as Grace (...for by Grace ...through faith...). And while we are considering this, it is important to remind ourselves that Faith is not just sitting back doing nothing.

Father, help us to review daily all that we think and believe about You and Your Kingdom. Help us to believe the Bible - help us to get it right.
