But the Lord will have mercy on the descendants of Jacob. He will choose Israel as his special people once again. He will bring them back to settle once again in their own land. And people from many different nations will come and join them there and unite with the people of Israel. [Isaiah 14.1]
Israel has always had a special relationship with God. The scripture reference above is only one of many that support this claim. History is filled with events verifying this truth. Prophecy about the future also includes Israel.
What does this mean to modern-day Christians? It probably has more to do with time than anything. By Israel, the whole of Christendom can gauge the progress of the world as eternity goes. Israel seems to be God's timepiece. Events of the past and the future are measured by Israel. The wise Christian will watch Israel in regard to yet unfulfilled prophecies. The wise nation will align itself with Israel. In a large way, the world revolves around Israel.
Father, please give me understanding in regard to world events and how they affect, or are affected by, Israel.
