I Love This Book!

Paul's arguments in today's NT OYB reading are astounding! Do we dare believe what Paul is saying? In 2.17 of Galatians, Paul asks, "But suppose we seek to be made right with God through faith in Christ and then we are found guilty because we have abandoned the law. Would that mean Christ has led us into sin? Absolutely not!"

But reading on, I find what sin is now defined as: "Rather, I am a sinner if I rebuild the old system of law I already tore down." Incredible! Is Paul then saying "I sin" by trying to obey the law? Think about it! That is EXACTLY what Paul is saying! Our motivation for doing anything in accordance with the law can be many things, but IT CANNOT BE TO BE MADE RIGHT WITH GOD! The moment we do so, we are found sinful and unacceptable in God's sight.

I love this book!

Verse 21 of Galatians 2: "I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die." Powerful words! Paul goes on in chapter 3 to say in essence that anything 'started' in the Spirit cannot be continued or completed by the law. It is all about Jesus' work on our behalf. Period.

Thank You Lord, for saving us. Thank You for all the work of it. Thank You that Your plan of salvation through Jesus Christ fulfils all the requirement for us to be made right with You!
