A Prayer For OYB'ers

I found a verse in Jeremiah today that was most enlightening. Chapter 22, verse 16: ""He [Jeremiah is speaking of King Josiah here] gave justice and help to the poor and needy, and everything went well for him. Isn't that what it means to know Me?" says the Lord" God's character, although infinitely indescribable, is quite simple to recognize. Our relationship with God will yield that same character in us. Wow!

Further along in Jeremiah (chapter 23) Jeremiah speaks against ungodly leaders and false prophets. This same warning should echo in our ears today; not that we should mistrust all leaders, but that we should stay alert concerning those whom we follow. Anything we are told should line up with the Word of God (in context and character) AND with the Spirit of God residing within us as individuals.

Paul begins his second letter to the church in Thessalonica today. Once again, what a heartwarming attitude is present in this writing. I would like to simply pray Paul's recorded prayer from 2 Thessalonians 1.11 over those who are OYB'ers along with me:

Lord, I keep on praying for those who are journeying through the One Year Bible with me, asking You to enable them to live a life worthy of Your call. May You give them the power to accomplish all the good things their faith prompts them to do.
