Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed—he healed them all. [Matthew 4.23-24]
This passage shows what a normal ministry of the Good News about God's Kingdom looks like.
Today, there are those who say miraculous ministry has all passed away (cessationists) and those who say it hasn't passed away (faith movement). Both however are deceived in believing they are right while neither actually demonstrates the fullness of "Jesus" of the Bible. Oh, to be sure, they both have "religion" but it's void of Jesus - at least, Jesus as the Bible presents Him. And both are in complete denial of this fact.
The effort the two groups above put forth to prove the other wrong is just sad. Both use the precision-tool of the Word of God like a hammer to beat on each other while they are cojoined with the world, enslaved to the idols of debt, insurance, medicine and technology. I mean, who really needs Jesus (except for "hell insurance") when these idols promise everything Jesus ministered to while on earth? Both camps of these so-called "believers in Jesus" are all rife with division and deeply immersed in idolatry. They (we?) are all going to hell because Jesus is "'all or nothing."
Both groups would say they believe "Jesus" while neither understands that Jesus pretty much excluded all but a very few:
“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. [Matthew 7.13-14]
Jesus was precise on what His followers would look like. The Gospels contain Jesus' repeated emphatic statements like, but not limited to, the following:
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. [John 14.12]
How can either of the two sides decried herein even think for a moment they are actually fulfilling John 14.12 without resorting to "smoke and mirrors" high-minded religious explanations - trickery? To deceive people to believe Jesus meant anything other than what He said is pure deception and therefore the work of Satan.
Somebody has to stand up and call B.S.!
Show me Jesus, or just shut up!
Father, may the truth of Jesus be presented today and all the lies be exposed. So be it.
