The LORD’s home reaches up to the heavens, while its foundation is on the earth. He draws up water from the oceans and pours it down as rain on the land. The LORD is his name! [Amos 9.6]
As far as I recall, I never knew God's home's foundation is on the earth. I always thought of "heaven" as being "out there" with no connection to earth.
This changes things.
Okay, I am going to make an observation based on Amos 9.6: If earth is the foundation of God's home, that reaches into the heavens, then earth is the center of God's Universe. It could be no other way.
This also very much confirms, as is declared elsewhere throughout the Scriptures, that God literally controls the weather. This revelation refutes any notion of happenstance weather (including Climate Change) and gives spiritual meaning therefore to all weather phenomena!
Look at this:
This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? Could you build me such a resting place? [Isaiah 66.1]
Hmm.
Father, as I consider the words of Amos 9.6, help me to re-think my entire understanding of what we "know" about the Universe. I am not trying to discredit science, but instead, understand science in light of this Biblical truth (as it should be). Certainly, this understanding explains how You could be omnipresent (in human understanding) as You literally surround the earth.
