Origin In God

With my great strength and powerful arm I made the earth and all its people and every animal. I can give these things of mine to anyone I choose. [Jeremiah 27.5]

This is part of a message given by Jeremiah to Zedekiah on behalf of God.

God almost always defines Himself by His creation.

For man to ever think he is independent of God is ludicrous. The very breath man breathes is simply the continuation of the life God breathed into Adam. Unless man realizes this, he is doomed to an existence of ignorance and confusion.

Interestingly enough, Jesus made an observation about humanity:

Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” [Matthew 9.35-38]

This is the condition in which idolatry leaves its victims. This is worth a few minutes of meditation (if not several days). When people forget (or ignore) their origin in God, life simply has no meaning.

Father, may we not lose sight of You in every day we live. May we constantly remain aware of Your hand in our lives and live then accordingly!
