Faith Leads To Action

The LORD knows people’s thoughts; he knows they are worthless! [Psalm 94.11]

Well... that about sums it up. How do we factor this verse with what Jeremiah said?

“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? [Jeremiah 17.9]

So, if our thoughts are no good and our heart is no good... what is left that we might please God?

Our faith.

But here is the interesting thing about faith: it works through actions!

Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God. So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone. [James 2.21-24]

Paul also confirmed this in his second letter to the Church in Thessalonica:

So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. [2 Thessalonians 1.11]

One "accomplishes" what one "does," - it's an action. Faith leads to action.

FAITH LEADS TO ACTION.

It's inventory time! What actions in our lives testify of our faith?

Father, may we be found in faithful actions!
