Time Will Tell

At that time the Spirit of the LORD will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person. [1 Samuel 10.6]

There is an interesting question to follow this verse... If the Spirit of God came upon Saul (and He indeed did), then how could Saul turn out so badly?

The answer is simple. It would seem God's Spirit will indeed change a life that is, and remains, willing. At whatever point a person stubbornly chooses to disobey God, any previous change is cancelled.

I have heard it said before, and I believe it to be true, the Spirit of God is a gentleman and will not "make" anyone do anything. Saul would progress to the point that he would choose to do his own thing - and God would let him.

So, while change is good, lasting change is better. Only time will tell.

Father, may change in me be permanent. May I be found obedient and faithful to You all my days.
