Disobedience

“But I did obey the LORD,” Saul insisted. “I carried out the mission he gave me. I brought back King Agag, but I destroyed everyone else. Then my troops brought in the best of the sheep, goats, cattle, and plunder to sacrifice to the LORD your God in Gilgal.” [1 Samuel 15.20-21]

As much as we would like to look upon Saul with disdain, what he did is exactly what the Church today does!

The Church today brags about being the Body of Christ but looks nothing like Jesus Christ.

Jesus was very specific about His followers "following Him." Jesus was very specific about what a person following Him would look like:

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. [John 14.12]

And yet... we think a large congregation in a technologically-advanced building, attractive music, and activities for everyone makes God happy.

News flash!

Obedience is what God is looking for (1 Samuel 15.22), and, more specifically, the obedience of faith (Hebrews 11.6)! In other words, if our lives do not portray the faith works Jesus demonstrated, all our pomp and circumstance at our "Christian gatherings" is not only ineffective, but seen by God as rebellion - and worse, witchcraft!

Shouldn't we focus a little more on why it is people are not being changed (spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically) when we come together? Yes, we should!

God help us!

Father, I am increasingly convinced that we need to see real change...
