Then the foreign rabble who were traveling with the Israelites began to crave the good things of Egypt. And the people of Israel also began to complain. “Oh, for some meat!” they exclaimed. [Numbers 11.4]
Never disregard the negative influence of an unbeliever in your midst!
Although life and ministry for the kingdom of God will have unbelievers in our company, we simply must remain mindful of the potential for faithless, disobedient thoughts and action to be initiated before we even realize what is going on.
I think of Jesus' words:
Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. [Matthew 7.15]
and...
Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves. [Matthew 10.16]
It will not do but for us to be on alert at all times for negative, faithless input that will usurp the will and movement of God in our lives.
Father, help me to be mindful of influences all around me that, by design, discourage and counteract faith.
