It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation. [Galatians 6.15]
As much as I would like to try to expound on all that is said here in Galatians 6.15, it seems right to focus on the last part of it: What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.
I think this statement rings true for all eternity. Have I been transformed into a new creation?
How would I know? How would anyone else know? Elsewhere in Paul's second letter to the Church in Corinth he said this:
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! [2 Corinthians 5.17]
It should be clear that a new life exists. The old is not just cleaned up - it is gone.
These are big words. They are especially big in a Christian culture where distinguishing lines are vague at best between "believers" and "unbelievers."
There is a noticeable difference between a Christ follower and otherwise. It should be as obvious as "old" and "new."
Father, help us to be transformed without question or doubt. May our transformation be evident for all to see (including ourselves)
