It's A Gift

Be sure to give to the LORD the best portions of the gifts given to you. [Numbers 18.29]

This message from God was given to Aaron and the priesthood. But as "kings and priests" today, this message has significance to the Church.

The "gifts given" mentioned here are the offerings of the people. These gifts, in fact, were sustenance for the priests.

If all believers are conscribed into the priesthood today, then everything we receive is a gift from God for our sustenance. It matters not whether it is money, abilities, strengths, ...whatever. Neither does it matter whether it is received through our own efforts or the efforts of others. What matters is that we give to God the best portions of the gifts given to us.

Hmm. If everything we are given is a gift...

Father, I am a little overwhelmed in considering that everything I have been given is a gift. But, in my overwhelmed state may You find me yielded without reservation in giving the best portions to You.
