“The land must never be sold on a permanent basis, for the land belongs to me. You are only foreigners and tenant farmers working for me. [Leviticus 25.23]
This verse and the context in which it is written should remind us that the land is God's.
It is also worth remaining mindful that the land directly responds to the morality of the people as indicated just a few sentences before:
“If you want to live securely in the land, follow my decrees and obey my regulations. Then the land will yield large crops, and you will eat your fill and live securely in it. [Leviticus 25.18-19]
For as much as individuals or the nation of Israel may have thought their land was indeed theirs, it was simply not true according to God.
Does this have any application whatsoever to modern society? Good question!
The land of Canaan was "the Promised Land" for Israel. As such, God retained "ownership" of the land and allowed Israel to occupy and manage it in obedience to Him. What might this say to other nations or individuals across the globe today?
This is an interesting topic because at this time in history, a large nation of the world is currently in process of taking over another smaller nation. Will Ukraine eventually belong to Russia?
Biblically speaking, one might ask some spiritual questions in the midst of this political unrest. Is Russia "bad" or is Ukraine "bad?" How does God figure in to the scenario? Is one or the other country seeking God? Is the land of Ukraine "vomiting out" its inhabitants? Is Russia following a promise from God?
And then, how do the other nations (lands) of the world respond?
The land is God's whether man or political machine acknowledge it or not. Perhaps this fact gives new (even universal) meaning to 2 Chronicles 7.14:
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. [2 Chronicles 7.14]
Doesn't it seem worthy of attention that God said He would heal "the land?"
Father, whatever is taking place in the world arena today, may Your Word be declared that there is forgiveness of sins for all who repent and that that forgiveness directly affects not only the people, but "the land."

I so feel ya brother in this thinking. I ask myself that a couple of days ago. what is the direction and the thinking of these two countries. are they seeking God's face? Is God even in their decision making. I personally don't know, but I'd like too. I do recognize the land is His, so Father guide them. thanks for the thought provoking questions today brother.
Father please help them and us to seek your face in all things we face today and let our hearts be purely on you. I thank you for all your doing in our lives and ask that you keep us humbled and inline with your will hear on earth as it is in Heaven. In the humbled mighty awesome precious name of Christ Jesus, Amen!
