Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. [Hebrews 13.8]
Until the Church, the Body of Christ, figures this out and settles it in their minds, there is no way they will "do the works of Jesus" as Jesus commanded in John 14.12:
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. [John 14.12]
I know it feels "religious" and gets us 'off the hook' to dismiss Jesus' miracles and power today, but the Bible simply does not support that error.
If Jesus performed miracles while on earth, then Jesus performs miracles today through His Body the Church.
The fact that we see so little of Christ's power in the earth today is not His fault. He entrusted that power to His followers. He has not changed one bit. When He sees hungry people, He still intends to feed them. When He see sick people, He still intends to heal them. When He encounters obstacles, He still intends to walk right through them.
Just as Jesus prayed and meditated on the Word of God allowing the Holy Spirit to take Him where the Father desired, so we are to pray and meditate on the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to take us where the Father desires.
We've become so religious though that we have allowed ourselves to believe Jesus has changed. Oh, we quote Hebrews 13.8, but our actions reveal that we do not believe it.
Father, help Your Church, the Body of Christ, to reveal unchanged Jesus to the world!
